Day 23: The Beresford, Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow

Glasgow's first "skyscraper", this Art Deco building opened as an hotel in 1938 for the Empire Exhibition. The architect, William Beresford Inglis, of Weddell & Inglis, was also the hotel's owner and managing director. After WW2 it became offices until being acquired in 1964 by the University of Strathclyde for student accommodation. It was sold in 2003 and has been converted/developed into private apartments.
