Day 24: Anyone for tennis?

And yes, we played in the cold smirry rain - exhilarating!
What a difference a day makes!

Day 23: The Beresford, Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow

Glasgow's first "skyscraper", this Art Deco building opened as an hotel in 1938 for the Empire Exhibition. The architect, William Beresford Inglis, of Weddell & Inglis, was also the hotel's owner and managing director. After WW2 it became offices until being acquired in 1964 by the University of Strathclyde for student accommodation. It was sold in 2003 and has been converted/developed into private apartments.

Day 20: Chocolate conoisseur evening at Coco Chocolate

These are HUGE actual solid blocks of chocolate - compare them to the large chocolate buttons in the jar behind. Would thoroughly recommend Coco Chocolate's conoisseur tasting evening and learning, amongst other things, about couverture, conching and tempering. Educational as well as tickling the taste buds. www.cocochocolate.co.uk

Day 12: Mearns Kirk, Mearnskirk

If you look closely there is a magpie on the weather vane - a bird on a bird!

Day 11: A winnebago lighthouse, of course

Made by Sarah Hamilton & Pam Hall during (but not part of) a company "creating value" seminar on 11th January 2012. The yellow block at the left is the raised door, no doubt in case the building is surrounded by water but, being a winnebago, it can be conveniently located wherever a lighthouse is required. Can be booked.

Day 5: 30 Princes Street, Edinburgh - first sunshine of the year

This building used to be R.W. Forsyth's flagship store, currently belongs to the Burton Group (Top Shop) and part of it is allegedly about to be made into a Travelodge! Building designed by J.J. Burnett and the "octagonal cupola with pyramidal roof surmounted by gilded openwork sphere" by Gilbert Bayes.
